Rep. Alan Grayson from Florida (D) pointed out the contradictions of some Republicans recently. He called to our attention the disturbing fact that a large group of Americans are against everything President Obama does. I find it fascinating, that 'patriots','real Americans' would hope their President 'fail', and would show up to protests with disturbing images/effigies of the President. Not to mention during the campaign the racial cartoons and the infamous "Barack the Magic Negro" Song. I know it's a hard fact, but America is far from being "Post-Racial". So same of you say, "what about Democrats making fun of Bush and Palin?", If I recall correctly Bush's Skin Color wasn't an issue nor was Palin's, and I also think some of that went too far. We should be able to disagree with someone without demonizing them. What good reason does an American have to cheer at the loss of the Olympics being hosted in America? Some Americans have gone too far, this is not free speech, this is not patriotism. There is clearly a Racial undertone to all this. It is a fact that there is real diversity in the world, that people act and think differently according to their upbringing, but to demonize them for that is low. Taking the time to build meaningful relationships with the 'others' would prove they are much like ourselves, we would understand why they operate differently, and we would realize that small differences like skin color, don't matter in the bigger picture. So if you hate someones stance on things, rationally debate them, don't throw out degrading slurs, create bloody effigies, or burn their image. Gather your facts, build your argument, state your points clearly, and just be human!

What Does Mother Teresa and President Obama Have in Common?
President Obama has joined the prestigious list of individuals awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize, He is now among names like Mother Teresa, Desmond Tutu, Kofi Anan, and Martin Luther King Jr. According to Alfred Nobel's will, the Peace Prize should be awarded "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses." I guess 2 out of 3 was enough. I'm not an Obama Hater nor am I an Obama Fanatic. But this news didn't' surprise me, He's well known throughout the world, and has been generously received in foreign countries. Let's just say there were some Obama Fanatics on the Nobel Committee. Nor was I surprised by the mixed reaction here in the U.S. some say it was too soon and I agree. February 1st was the nomination deadline, which means Obama's Presidency was 2-weeks old at the time. Naturally there's some complaints, the nations unemployment rate is rising exponentially, families are losing their homes, and die hard capitalists are shaking in their boots. I must say though,President Obama played it well. He didn't gloat, and acknowledged that he didn't deserve it and that the the U.S. is engaged in two not one two wars currently. Talk about anti-peace. But what can you do, life is a popularity contest.

Michael Moore's Capitalism: A Love Story
We recently watched Michael Moore's new Film, and we were pleased. We brought up some of the subjects disscussed in the movie such as Foreclosures, Lay offs, Bailouts, Democracy and the Dark Side of Capitalism. We have to say this is a well balanced movie, you'll cry, laugh, get angry, and leave with some hope for the future. He poses a very interesting solution to our economic woes, and one worth starting a discussion about. His solution....Real Democracy, Plain and Simple, and not just in Government, but in Workplaces, where employees have a say in their pay, where they are treated like human beings with rights and so on. Come on! How many of you felt like you were in a small scale dictatorship everyday you went to work? How many of you? We've felt that way and its not right. How many of you are losing your homes?! Millions have lost a place to call their own. Capitalism, is a system that seems to be working against itself as of late, a little Dr. Jekyll/ Mr. Hyde action is going on here. All in all Must See Film.
